Mano Presents: Li Daiguo

A night of worldmusic on acoustic instruments...

Li Daiguo is a Chinese American from Oklahoma living in Chengdu, Sichuan. After years of formal training since the age of 5 in western classical music (violin, viola, cello, bass) and later in traditional Chinese music (erhu, pipa), he began to explore a variety of world music (Finnish, Carnatic Indian, etc.), improvisation and New Music as a Music and Literature major at San Diego State University. In 2004 Li Daiguo moved to China and began to focus on solo improvisation and composition, performing in a variety of venues and in the streets of mostly China, Japan, and the U.S. (he also performed a series of shows in Israel in Autumn of 2008). As an improvisor, Daiguo has also enjoyed collaborations with other artists including butoh dancers, contact jugglers, actors, clowns, musicians, VJs, DJs, live painters, strippers, and people he meets in the street.
